The da Vinci Xi® allows surgeons to reach and operate in small, delicate areas of the body, such as those in gynecologic or urologic surgeries. The technology provides miniature instruments, 3D vision and a magnified view—up to 10 times the original size—so your surgeon can operate with extreme accuracy.

Spinal robotic surgery

Sky Ridge uses the Mazor X™ robotic platform to perform spine surgery in our Spine & Total Joint Center. The Mazor X™ is a preoperative and intraoperative guidance and surgical system that allows surgeons to map out and perform simple and complex spine surgeries with exact precision.

Sky Ridge began using Mazor X™ in February 2017 and is the only medical center within a 10-state region equipped with this state-of-the-art technology. We have been recognized by various medical institutions for our spine care and surgery program.

Prior to back surgery, patients undergo a computed tomography (CT) scan to capture images of their spine and surrounding anatomy. The Mazor X™ technology uses these images to generate a surgical plan that defines the exact locations to place surgical instruments, screws and rods. Its software allows doctors to see a patient’s anatomy in 3D, so we can plan, visualize and personalize the surgery to the patient.

During surgery, Sky Ridge surgeons guide the Mazor X™ robotic surgical arm to precisely place instruments and implants in the desired position based on the preoperative plan.

Orthopedic robotic surgery for partial knee replacement

Sky Ridge offers several knee replacment surgical options. For some partial knee replacement procedures, Sky Ridge offers MAKOplasty® technology, a new, minimally invasive partial knee resurfacing procedure used to treat early to mid-stage osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee—the most common form of arthritis. MAKOplasty® is powered by the RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System, which offers a more precise and consistent result for partial knee resurfacing.

The RIO® robotic technology uses CT scans and advanced 3D mapping to assist the surgeon in locating and replacing only the damaged part of the knee with a prosthetic piece.
