Bone density testing and osteoporosis detection
Through full-body densitometry, also known as bone density testing, our specialists can identify low-bone mass or osteoporosis throughout your body and help predict the likelihood of future fractures and damage to the bone. Densitometry is safe using low-dose radiation and painless. The entire procedure only takes a few minutes.
Bone density tests are provided by Sky Ridge’s imaging partner Invision Sally Jobe, which utilizes the DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) bone density test—the gold standard in osteoporosis diagnosis.
To schedule an appointment for a bone density test, please call us at (720) 493-3700.
Heart screening and prevention tests
As heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S., prevention is key. With access to advanced screening tests, you can identify risks and catch problems in their early stages. Our cardiologists perform thousands of diagnostic heart tests each year.
Who should be screened for heart disease?
Genetics and lifestyle choices can both play roles in heart disease risk. Education is the best method for prevention. People with a family history of heart disease or those who have undefined deaths in the family should be screened and educated on their heart health.
My Life Check® - Life's Simple 7
My Life Check® assessment was designed by the American Heart Association with the goal of stopping heart disease before it’s even started by sharing Life’s Simple 7 and checking your heart score.
Calcium scoring CT
A calcium scoring CT scan, also called a coronary calcium scan, is painless and non-invasive. It uses a special machine to obtain multiple X-ray images of the heart and heart vessels. These images are more detailed than conventional X-rays and allow a physician to determine your calcium score, which reflects the degree and extent of calcium deposits in the walls of your coronary arteries (the vessels that supply oxygen-containing blood to the heart).
This CT scan gives you and your physician an idea of whether coronary artery disease is present despite a lack of symptoms, or is likely to develop. Together with your doctor, you can then decide what measures you can take to avoid heart disease. The test only costs $79.
Consider a calcium screening CT scan if any of these factors below apply to you:
- High blood cholesterol levels
- A family history of heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Cigarette smoking
- Being overweight or obese
- Being physically inactive
