39 Weeks of Pregnancy...Because Every Baby is Worth the Wait

At Sky Ridge Medical Center, our priority is healthy newborns and healthy moms. That's why we're partnering with the March of Dimes to spread the word about the benefits of waiting until at least 39 weeks of pregnancy before delivering your baby.

Why is at Least 39 Weeks Best for Your Baby?

Getting to at least 39 weeks of pregnancy gives your baby the time he or she needs to grow. A lot of important things happen to your baby in the last few weeks of pregnancy, including brain and lung development. NICU Medical Director Discusses the 39 Week Rule

Sky Ridge’s Commitment to You and Your Baby

While we know there are circumstances that necessitate elective early-term deliveries, it is our goal to help all mothers reach 39 weeks pregnancy before giving birth. We measure and report our success in achieving this goal.

So, how did we do?

A reasonable national quality benchmark for elective early term deliveries is 5% at less than 39 weeks. Because of a strong commitment from our doctors and nurses, HealthONE's rate was less than 1.5% through the third quarter of 2012.
