Physical and Occupational Therapy at Sky Ridge

Our trained therapists provide the following services at our Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation Center. Our focus is on improving conditions and helping get patients back to everyday activities as quickly as possible.

Physical Therapy Gym
Occupational Therapy is a profession that helps people do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities, or occupations.
The role of the OT when someone suffers a burn injury is early mobilization of the joints involved; prevention of joint contractures through range of motion, strengthening, positioning and splinting; scar management; and to promote functional independence through activities of daily living.
The role of the OT in activities of daily living is to promote the highest level of functioning in ADL’s. Basic ADLs include feeding, grooming, dressing, toileting and bathing and are usually addressed in the acute care and rehabilitation settings. Instrumental ADLs include activities such as cooking, cleaning, using a computer for household finances and gardening. These ADLs are usually addressed in a home care setting or can be simulated in the outpatient setting.
