We are committed not only to your clinical care but ensuring your peace of mind for a healthy pregnancy. We have assembled a multi-disciplinary team to answer your questions, provide care around the clock and make your stay with us as comfortable as possible for you and your family. We know that it can be frightening, stressful and lonely when a mom-to-be is confined to bed rest and hospital stay for an extended period. Our goal is to provide you with outstanding clinical care while offering services that can make your stay with us more home like, social and engaging.
What is a High-Risk Pregnancy?
Whether or not a pregnancy is considered high-risk is determined by the presence of conditions that affect the mother (maternal conditions), the fetus (fetal conditions) or both. Maternal conditions may be pregnancy-related or fetal conditions may be discovered through abnormal ultrasound findings. The level of risk involved in each pregnancy is different, depending on the type and number of high-risk conditions present.
Examples of maternal conditions in high-risk pregnancy include:
- Multiple gestation (twins, triplets, etc.)
- Chronic or new-onset of high blood pressure
- Pre-term labor
- History of difficult pregnancies
Examples of fetal conditions in high-risk pregnancy include:
- Birth defects
- Growth abnormalities
- Fluid abnormalities
While on bedrest, many moms-to-be are concerned about missing childbirth classes. In our Antepartum Unit, we will bring them to you.
Community Room at Sky Ridge
Pregnancy is a miraculous journey in a woman's life. During this time, one will experience joy and hope when planning for a new life. But, not every woman experiences a "traditional" pregnancy. Some women and their families experience complications severe enough to place them on hospital bed rest. The landscape now changes as a mom deals with days, weeks and sometimes months of hospital care. The Acts of Grace Foundation is here to assist moms on antepartum units in hospitals through simple acts such as floral deliveries, crafts, providing toiletry items and meal vouchers, goody bags and interaction with other high-risk moms through activity days. The hope of these dedicated foundation volunteers is to make moms more comfortable and decrease anxiety during their hospital stay by providing them with simple “acts of grace.”
