The purpose of screening is early diagnosis and treatment. Screening is done for people who have no symptoms, but may be at high risk for certain conditions.
There are no effective screening tests for uterine sarcoma. If you have risk factors for uterine cancer, your doctor will want to discuss them with you.
Some women will have a much higher risk of endometrial cancer than average. This includes women with Lynch syndrome or other specific genetic mutations. Screening tests may be recommended for these women starting at age 35. Possible tests for those with high risk include:
- Endometrial biopsy
- Transvaginal ultrasound
Endometrial cancers cause symptoms at early stages. Most of these cancers are caught at early stages because of this. Your doctor may recommend watchful waiting instead of tests.
