Intense workouts can cause you to stop having periods. A competitive athlete should talk to your doctor about whether they should take calcium to put off health problems. Birth control pills may also be an option to keep hormones stable.
Intense workouts can also be a compulsive problems. It may occur along with an eating disorder. Some women with these problems workout two to six hours a day. Counseling and support may help to manage eating disorders.
Amenorrhea is often due to having too much or too little body fat. Your doctor can help you find the right weight and body fat levels for you. Avoid rapid changes in weight as they can cause problems too.
If you need to lose weight, your doctor or a dietitian can help you make changes. You want a food plan that is balanced and has enough calories.
High levels of stress can change your periods. Lowering stress level may help. Get rest and relaxation when needed. Relaxation tips may also help. This may include meditation , deep breathing, progressive relaxation, yoga , and biofeedback. Activity that you enjoy can also help you ease stress.
