Training & Education
Graduate medical education programs in behavioral health have never been more important to our community and it’s vitally important for teaching hospitals to invest in individuals interested in pursuing psychiatry. Our program is rooted in the ACGME’s core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
The goal of our program is to prepare physicians with the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to provide patient care in the field of psychiatry.
Program & Highlights
Emphasis is on the humane application of scientific knowledge and preparation of graduates for continuing lifelong self-directed learning; the cost-effective utilization of public resources; the responsiveness to needs of individuals and the community; and the highest standards of academic excellence and professional ethics. These competencies carry residents across all four years of their program and guide everything we do and provide each resident with a solid infrastructure from which to grow into the best practitioner they can be. We offer students a unique community hospital training environment marked by collegiality, collaboration and opportunity.
