As a part of the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children family of care, Sky Ridge is able to offer its younger patients access to the widest array of broad range of health services for children, from routine strep tests to kid-specific emergency care and surgical procedures available in Colorado. Designed with color, art, plants, furniture and play areas that will help your child heal in a warm and comfortable setting, while giving you peace of mind.

Colorado Launches Marijuana Education Campaign Targeting Youth

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has launched a campaign to increase awareness of marijuana risks among youth ages 12-15. The campaign – “Don’t be a Lab Rat” – is designed to inform teenagers that marijuana consumption has been shown to impact developing brains in ways that are not yet fully understood. The campaign’s microsite explains that teenage marijuana use has been linked to schizophrenia, permanent IQ loss and stunted brain growth. Preliminary results from the 2013 Healthy Kids Colorado Survey shows that one in five Colorado high school students say they have used marijuana in the past 30 days, and that more than a third have used it as some point in their lives. The $2 million dollar campaign includes experiential “Lab Rat Cage” installations that will be placed in high-foot-traffic areas; movie theatre advertising, YouTube commercials and more.

Emergency Services Expressly for Kids

ED Doc with Peds Patient

At Sky Ridge, kids are important to us so we designed our Emergency Department with them in mind. We have fun décor and kid-friendly equipment to handle any emergency your family may encounter. We also have a pediatrician available from 4:00 p.m. to midnight weekdays and 2:00 p.m. to midnight weekends.

Douglas County School District App

Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children has partnered with Douglas County School District to help be a resource of useful children's health information for parents. Staying in touch and in-the-know is now easier than ever. The DCSD app (pdf) allows parents, students, community members and employees to communicate with one another on news, notifications, calendar events and health alerts.

Special Treatment for Kids During A Hospital Stay

Boy on playground

Children are treated with love at Sky Ridge Medical Center. We offer private patient rooms in which parents can spend the night on a futon sleeper. Our attentive pediatric nurses have years of experience and a gentle touch…for you as well as your child. And, when your child is able to move about or a visiting sibling needs a respite, our cheery playroom and outdoor playground (donated by the Starlight Children's Foundation) provide the perfect element of entertainment. For those quieter times, feel free to bring your child's favorite CD or DVD to make him feel more comfortable and secure.

Smile for the Camera – Digital Imaging

We offer the latest in medical technology across our campus. And one of our most exciting technologies is digital imaging. Our specially trained pediatric radiologists read digital scans instead of films. Your physician can view these images simultaneously from anywhere at Sky Ridge or from the office providing faster, more efficient diagnosis of your child's injury or illness.
