Prostate Cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the United States. It also is one of the top 5 types of cancer that we treat at Sky Ridge.
Timeframe: 2008-2010 (most recent data)
From 2002 to 2009, prostate cancer was one of the most frequently diagnosed and treated types of cancer at Sky Ridge. More than 77% of the prostate cancer patients treated at Sky Ridge were stage 2; 53% were under 60 years old and another 40% were in their 60s.
Ninety-two (92) percent of our prostate cancer patients chose surgery as their first course of treatment.
5-Year Prostate Cancer Survival Rates for Sky Ridge Patients
The Sky Ridge five-year survival rate for prostate cancer patients is slightly higher than similarly staged patients treated nationally. Our patients undergoing surgery tend to be younger, healthier and have better prognostic factors.
