Lost 170 Pounds
Four years ago I came to a place where I no longer recognized myself. I found myself trying to be invisible, flying under the radar and doing whatever it took not to be seen by people who knew me before I had gained so much weight. I was 23 years old, but my body felt as though I was 20 years older. Everything hurt and ached. At 23, you should be out with friends, active and enjoying life, not hiding from yourself and others. I had lap band surgery to save my life, and that’s exactly what it did. I am now 27 years old and this is my story.
It has been a long and trying journey, but I wouldn’t take it back for anything. The most important thing I’ve learned to be successful is that you must be willing to make a complete life style change. I have become active and am enjoying things I never would have dreamed of doing. I started playing ice hockey, running 5K races and have made exercise a priority in my life. For the first time in a long time, I’m comfortable in my own skin. With the support of my family and friends, especially my mother, I’ve crushed my goal and I’ve finally found myself again. I’ve lost 170 pounds and nine pant sizes, but in the process have gained confidence, self-esteem and a new found love for life. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself, work hard and never ever give up!
